Meet Miquela. Part-time model. Remote area nurse. All-round force of nature. Most days, she’s in scrubs. On her days off? She’s in swim.
She’s the face of our new campaign - fearless, adventurous, effortlessly her. Proof that women can do it all… and do it their way.
We had the absolute joy of shooting our Say Summer, Say Seafolly campaign with Miquela - and yes, we asked all the questions we’ve been dying to know.
Get to know Miquela Vos and take a peek behind the scenes of our sun-soaked, salt-kissed summer shoot below.
What was your very first job?
My very first job was delivering papers around my suburb when I was about 10 - super cute! Modelling-wise, my first big break was being the face of Perth Fashion Festival (though it’s been so long I honestly can’t remember my very first!).
What’s your first memory with Seafolly?
The 2010 campaign with Sam Harris and Jessica Hart. I remember seeing those massive posters in the shop windows and thinking WOW. From that day on, it was my dream to do something like that - my 14-year-old self would be screaming right now.
What are your must-have beach snacks?
Fresh fruit (always tastes better when it’s chopped into bite-size pieces), a big bag of chilli Harvest Snaps, and - this is a weird one - leftover cold snags from the BBQ the night before.
What’s your favourite Seafolly swimsuit?
I honestly can’t choose, they’re all so fun! But right now I’m loving the pink one-piece. Love a pop of colour!
What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
That I’ve spent the last five years living in remote communities as a nurse. People are so surprised at this! It’s been such an incredible time in my life! Learning to live with little supplies and learning about the Aboriginal culture of the land on which the community is on has been so incredibly special. Even spearfishing or catching our own fish since we’d only go to town every few weeks. We’ve just moved communities and the nearest town is now a 10-hour drive away. Fishing is always on the activity list… though the crocs make spearfishing a little risky!
Describe your perfect summer day.
Wake up with coffee and banana pancakes in the morning sun with Jack, then load the car with surfboards, snorkels, fishing rods and the dogs. Spend the day at the beach surfing little waves, snorkelling, fishing, and watching the dogs go wild in the sand. Lunch would be a classic hot chook and salad wraps (with sriracha Kewpie), plus fresh fruit. After soaking up the sun, head home, freshen up and chill. Then to end the day: either go down and watch sunset, or stay in and cook up a real yummy dinner like fresh fish tacos with mango! So grateful for those perfect summer days!
Favourite part about living in WA?
There's just so much of it and it's all so different, I want to explore it all! You can drive five hours and feel like you’re in a completely different environment... it’s just so cool.
Thongs or slides to the beach?
Thongs, every time.
What’s one thing you always do to feel like your best self?
Being at the beach in my Seafolly of course!
This campaign was captured on the lands of the Baiyungu, Thalanyji and Yinikurtira peoples of the Exmouth region. We deeply respect and honour their enduring connection to land, sea and community, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
