MEET OUR MAKEUP ARTIST

PETER BEARD

Peter Beard - Makeup Stylist - 2

1. How did you get your start in the industry?

I was always interested in creating images and characters. I started painting my mums face with watercolour paints as a child. Eventually my mother bought me some real makeup and I was off and away painting everyones faces. After becoming a photographers assistant I met a makeup artist who I started assisting and continued to do so for years as I tested with photographers to build my portfolio.

2. Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career?

It’s hard not to be inspired in this industry and I am lucky enough to work with people that inspire me constantly.

3. If you weren’t a makeup artist,
what else would you do?

If I wasn’t a makeup artist I would work in photography, although I also love the idea of opening an out-of-print book store.

4. What are your favourite summer
beauty trends for 2017?

Transparent makeup that looks and feels like skincare. Sheer watercolour stains of red that mimic the flush of blood under the skin, creating a healthy and natural glow.

5. Highlight of your career so far?

Working with Seafolly. It’s such an iconic Australian brand and their campaigns are always so memorable; I actually used to cut them out of magazines. We travel to the most beautiful Australian locations and have a great time.

6. What 3 makeup items should no
woman leave home without?

A great sunscreen. We live in one of the harshest UV environments in the world and this step should always happen before any makeup in applied. Sunscreen formulations have come such a long way and the right one can act like a primer for makeup and provide a glow to the skin.

Creamy colour in a natural blush tone can instantly add energy to a face. I love applying a cream blush over the bridge of the nose and on the cheeks to create a youthful flush; you can also apply the same color to your lips pressing it in with your finger.

An eyelash curler opens the eyes and makes the lashes appear longer.
A curled lash without mascara looks very fresh and clean.

7. Favourite model you have worked with?

I dont like to pick favourites hehe
