Seafolly Sits Down with Billie-Jean Hamlet

We sat down with this season's face of Seafolly, Billie-Jean Hamlet, to talk unhurried summers, the places that shaped her, and her connection with the brand.
Q: Worn, Woven, Lived is your third campaign with Seafolly. What keeps drawing you back?
A: Seafolly is such an iconic Aussie brand. It feels really nostalgic for me as it reminds me of summers growing up in Perth. I remember all my friends at high school thinking Seafolly was the coolest, especially when Gigi Hadid was fronting the campaigns. I never imagined I'd one day be shooting my third campaign with them, so it still feels pretty surreal.
Q: The campaign celebrates life's unhurried moments. What does a perfect slow summer day look like for you?
A: No plans are the best plans. I'm such a go with the flow type of girl. I could lose an entire day at the beach without even realising it, reading, swimming, grabbing an açai bowl, bumping into friends and letting the rest of the day unfold naturally. Those always end up being the best days.

Q: The collection is inspired by connection - to places, moments and memories. What experiences have shaped who you are most?
A: I think every place I've lived has shaped me in a different way. My childhood in Fitzroy Crossing gave me a really strong connection to my culture and Country, and that's something I'll carry with me forever. My teenage years in Perth were spent chasing the sun, spending weekends at the beach with my friends and embracing that easygoing Australian way of life. Then, when I first started modelling, moving to New York opened my eyes to the fashion world and really pushed my creativity. Looking back, each place has become a part of who I am today.
Q: The campaign captures the beauty of everyday moments. What are the small rituals or moments you find yourself appreciating most?
A: I love having little rituals throughout the day. My morning matcha, Pilates, taking my dog for a swim at the beach, going for a coastal walk and watching the sunset. My life can get pretty busy, so those moments help me feel grounded.
Q: If you could bottle one feeling from an Australian summer, what would it be?
A: For me, it's the feeling of complete ease. Long beach days, good food, great company, warm evenings and nowhere you need to be. That's what an Australian summer feels like to me.
